Adam Rooney was surprisingly omitted from Manchester United's squad for his or her FA Cup quarter-final replay at Chelsea on Monday. The England striker was rested for his side's 1-0 gain at Sunderland on Saturday, in an obvious bid to keep him fresh for Monday's sport, but he wasn't even contained in the listing of United substitutes. His hit partner, Robin van Persie, was named on the counter, with manager Alex Ferguson choosing to set Danny Welbeck with Javier Hernandez in attack. Changes were made six by chelsea interim manager Rafael Benitez sideways defeated 3-1 at Southampton on Saturday, with club captain John Terry dropping to the counter. Brian Luiz came in for Terry at centre-back, with Ashley Cole, Ramires, Eden Hazard, Juan Mata and Demba Ba also returning to the starting lineup. United and Chelsea, who received 2-2 at Old Trafford on March 10, are competing for the best to handle Manchester City in the semi-finals.
