Walsh: Spurs can take out over Bale - Football.co.uk

Tottenham should not be bullied into selling Gareth Bale this summer even though they be given a big offer from Real Madrid, according to former striker Paul Walsh. Bale has attracted a bunch of other sides, and the interest of Real, Barcelona after firing in 28 targets for country and team in 2013. Walsh feels chairman Daniel Levy could play hard-ball in his attempt to help keep Bale in the same way he did with Luka Modric, who was built to remain despite his attempt to force by way of a proceed to Chelsea, even though he eventually left for Real Madrid. "He has 3 years left on his agreement so Tottenham are ready where they could say, 'You're not going anywhere. We are going to hold you'," said Walsh, who was speaking at a Football Pools occasion. "Daniel Levy has been quite hard-nosed on a couple of different events in the past so I don't think Tottenham are only likely to roll over. He didn't allow Modric get that summer and that could be what they have to do with Bale." Bale, who's odds-on favourite to be crowned PFA Player of the Entire Year on Sunday, once again showed his value last week-end when he helped stimulate Spurs to a wonderful recovery against Manchester City. The Londoners went behind to Samir Nasri's goal, but Bale played in Clint Dempsey to equalise and then obtained Tottenham's third after Jermain Defoe had put Spurs 2-1 ahead. Town were in get a handle on for many of the overall game but the contest was turned by the three-goal salvo on its head in a matter of minutes. However fifth in the dining table, Spurs can not afford to just take their foot off the accelerator in their last five games, but Walsh admits the manner of the make an impression on last year's champions can give Andre Villas-Boas' squad a major psychological boost before a tough run in. "The participants will have the ability to draw strength from it and perception from it," Walsh said. "They will say 'We will not stop trying because we know we can transform it around.' Because it has been done by them against Manchester City, it will be in the memory bank for when they need it and they will need to be powerful attitude in the business end of the period. "Fourth place gets you in to a competition and it gets you a huge quantity of money."
