Chelsea FC interim chef Rafael Benitez fuming with 'difficult' fitting record - Crunchsports.com

Chelsea interim director Rafael Benitez has struck out at the club's "impossible" fixture list ahead of a schedule of six games in just 16 days. Thursday found Chelsea play host to Southampton in the Premier League, just 48 hours before an Cup replay with Manchester United on Easter Monday. The Blues are then in action in the Europa League on Thursday night, before taking on Sunderland next Sunday. The following week sees Chelsea happen to be Rubin Kazan for the next leg of their Europa League tie, and a Benitez informed reporters: "Normally, if you have three times between activities, you can easily see the players are tired. When it is two days, it is impossible. "The main thing is making use of your eyes, your knowledge, the interactions with staff. Then I have to consider the positions of the players - and where the different sides have their key players as well - and prepare the overall game plan. "You need certainly to put things together instead of having just one single concern because lots of things are an effect, including studying the people and the scouts' reports. "In terms of attempting to make the tactics for the United sport, that's good, but physiologically it is much tougher. You feel fine the day after having a game however the next day is a lot tougher and it will be really tough for everyone." Birmingham United relaxed several key players against Sunderland on Saturday ahead of Monday's Cup conflict, and Benitez continued: "It is difficult to be absolutely fit for 2 games. These can enjoy, but where level? "Sometimes you could win if you're not 100 per cent because you are only a lot better than the other team but that depends upon the place of the players who are tired and the weight. "Now we've to make these decisions. We know that if we get, it'll be that we did the right thing. But if not, we'll be told, 'You made a mistake.'"
