Steve Clarke believes West Bromwich Albion will be at the front of the queue to bring back Romelu Lukaku for another loan spell - provided Chelsea grant him another year away from Stamford Bridge.
Nobody is sure whether Lukaku will be allowed another loan move next season - not least as Chelsea have yet to appoint Rafa Benitez's successor.
Atletico Madrid striker Radamel Falcao has already been touted as a potential summer signing should Mourinho return to west London.
The 19-year-old has spoken several times of his fondness for Albion and stated that he would like to return next season for another season.
Clarke, Mourinho's former right-hand man, is preparing his summer recruitment on the basis that Lukaku will not return.
"He is contracted (with Albion) until the end of June, will go back to Chelsea for pre-season and I'm 99 per cent sure he will do pre-season with Chelsea and they will decide whether they want to let him out for another season.
"He loves it here, he's been positive about the club, he's been nominated for young player of the year, which tells you that he's had a good season, so I think he will be happy here."
"We have been part of the process that helped him get the nomination but he deserves the credit for the work he's done as well."
