Bolton and "three quarters within the Championship" interested in Alex Baptiste.

With most of the attention currently directed at Bolton's Jermaine Beckford put money on, it's easy to forget that you have other irons in that fire for Dougie Freedman along with the Trotters. With a wealth of options down the middle of midfield and a bit of depth in the heart of defense, the team really needs to shore up the wing options both forward motion and at the again.

"It's not about spending the actual largest money, it's about best man right targets. I have planned for any and I think it's always crucial for doing that.

"I think I'd love to balance the squad up a little bit. With the amount of centre-halves we've and centre-midfielders we have I simply need to balance it up within the wider areas and that's what we'll do. "

With Marcos Alonso likely to the outs, Sam Ricketts arguably going down, Tyrone Mears' ongoing ailment, and Joe Riley's damage issues, Bolton Wanderers options for the fullback slots are thin.

One of the leaders now being thrown in the ring for a protective signing is that from Blackpool's Alex Baptiste. The 27-year-old is at Blackpool since 2008 and has made 187 appearances with the Tangerines in all challenges. Baptiste, a right-footed defensive player, could be a versatile option at the back for Bolton regarding his ability to play both involved with defense as well since out the wings.

Baptiste is out of contract afre the wedding of June and go forward a free transfer. The Tangerines have previously released 13 players regarding who the winner while contract talks with the defender are still daily. Bolton are far in the only interested party. Derby County manager Nigel Clough chatted highly of Baptiste with the Derby Telegraph:

"We are interested, along with I might think three quarters for the Championship and maybe a couple of clubs in the Highest regarded League.

"There are very couple good defenders out of contract at the moment and so there has to be lot of interest within him, so some brisk competition.

"We will wait on him but not too long because we'll need to recognise reasonably quickly. If most people cannot get him, we will proceed. "
