TONY Pulis feels Stoke star Steven Nzonzi has been unfairly pilloried after he fled a red card for violent conduct last week. Nzonzi was only booked after pushing Fulham striker Bryan Ruiz in the face a' and as the referee saw the event he couldn't be further punished retrospectively. a Steven Nzonzi has his nose inspected throughout Stoke City's game against Fulham. Pulis said the offence couldn't be condoned, but could be described, since a broken nose had been suffered by Nzonzi in a early in the day episode involving Dimitar Berbatov. "If you look at the incident (with Berbatov) he does get caught," said Pulis, pictured. HURRY...OFFER ENDS SATURDAY 2nd MARCH.........A50 off once you spend over A350 on a wedding band. "Steven was a bit annoyed. If you look at Steven's experience, he's taken a right setback on his nose. He was in plenty of pain. "His reaction was not good, but there is probably reasons why the reaction wasn't good." Nzonzi's broken nose, which will need minimal corrective surgery on Monday, saw him have a mask fitted ahead of today's battle with West Ham at the Britannia (3pm) when he will risk the proposition of his team-mates. "It is up to Steven whether he wears it," Pulis included. "He may possibly decide it is maybe not for him. But if he does use it, knowing our lot he will get hammered." Whatever his facial clothing this afternoon, the 24-year-old Frenchman will undoubtedly be locking horns together with his old Blackburn boss Sam Allardyce as both Stoke and West Ham side nearer to the standard 40-point security goal. Pulis sought Allardyce's advice throughout a long courtship before finally getting Nzonzi after Blackburn's relegation last summer. And the signing has paid dividends, with the midfielder being Stoke's most accurate passer this season. "Sam was glowing in his statement of Steven, having caused him," Pulis remembered, "and I am aware when he could have taken him to West Ham he'd have done. That is the greatest compliment he could pay him. "We had been looking at him at Blackburn for 18 months, from when Sam was there, but it could not be brought by us down. "But there is an alteration, a weakness if you want, and hopefully we hit at the best time. "He is theoretically an improved player than he was. Actually, he is got all the qualities, and he does exceptionally well in the air." STOKE'S game at Newcastle next week-end has been established as a kick-off on Sunday, March 10 following the game was set right back twenty four hours because of Newcastle's Europa League promises on Thursday.
