Over the past few months The PGA of America has brought a vocal and lively position which reflected the strong viewpoint your PGA Professionals in opposing the USGA and R& A's proposed Rule 14-1b that could ban the anchored action. Today, the governing bodies indicated that they need to proceed with the formal adoption of the rule.
We are disappointed because of this outcome. As we have stated publicly and repeatedly through the comment period, we don't believe 14-1b is within the best interest of recreational golfers and were concerned about the negative impact it may have on both a enjoyment and growth in the game. Growing the game is about the fundamental purposes of This PGA of America.
Although we tend not to agree with the choice, we applaud the USGA for its willingness to become our concerns and drawn in meaningful discussions. In our opinion and determined by our experience, the USGA treated that comment period for what it was eventually intended to be—a period to exchange opinions, concerns and potential solutions.
We should also note that our difference of feeling regarding 14-1b should not in any way detract from the healthy relationship we now have had with the USGA for almost a century. Together, we have taken tremendous steps for the main advantage of the game we either love and serve and we will work together through the continuing mutual support of Get Golf Ready; Tee It Forward; the Boys & Women Clubs of America; the pioneer Tee, Drive, Chip together with Putt Championship; 9 is fine; and critical pace involving play issues. Let us not lose sight to the fact that The PGA and the USGA agree far more than we disagree.
We also want to note that our conversations and meetings along with the USGA over these last few months have resulted in our mutual agreement to have interaction in a leadership conference at the very least once a year to debate our strategies and concerns to see where and how we could continue to improve this online game together. In addition, we enjoy working openly with the USGA so as to ensure that on a continuous basis, our inclusion inside the Rules-making process is as meaningful as you possibly can.
At this point eventually, The PGA will break up the USGA and R& A's decision to advance with Rule 14-1b together with discuss this matter using Board of Directors, PGA Sections and, of course, this 27, 000 PGA Professionals throughout the country. Our Board will convene with late June during this PGA Professional National Championship and regarded as, we will decide how best to proceed. In addition, we will always confer with the PGA Tour as they definitely similarly digests this tips.
In the meantime, we will immediately do that which you do best—teach the performance. Since the end from November, The PGA Instruction Committee has become working on a process whereby our PGA Professionals can help with the transition from anchored putters to your non-anchored stroke in anticipation of this decision. Our PGA Professionals get always embraced our purpose as problem solvers in the case of making the game far better and more enjoyable if you play it.
